Psalm  96:1-4 says: “Sing to the Lord a new song; Sing to the Lord, all the earth.  Sing to the Lord, bless His Name; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day; Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples, For great is the Lord and greatly to be Praised.”

The songs we sing in our services each Sunday are a mix of the “older” songs that we all know as well as the latest “new” songs.  You do know that everyone has an opinion on this! Some just want to sing the old songs.  Others only want to sing the newest praise songs. In this day of instant satisfaction things get old very quickly.  And what satisfied us and was new yesterday becomes old today.  So, does it take new melodies and words to keep a newness and freshness to our worship?  In other words, what really is “new?” Let’s take the expression of love.  Since I loved my wife yesterday and told her so, does that mean I need to express my love to her today in never-before-heard terms?  I do want to express my love for her in fresh new ways, but I really don’t know how many times I can think of new ways to say it.  Here is the point.  I can express my love to my wife in the same manner that I did yesterday, but with fresh passion and appreciation and then guess what…It takes on newness and freshness in our relationship.  The same goes for our praise to God. Singing in a habitual rehashing way without current, fresh passion and meaning is an old song even if it was written last month.  A song we have sung for many years becomes a “new song” when the expression is heartfelt, enthusiastic, and fresh. So the bottom line is this!  Whether we are singing the latest and newest praise and worship chorus or the most familiar old hymn; may we sing them both with heartfelt passion and meaning so that each one becomes a fresh “new song” as we worship the Lord in spirit and in truth.

Our choir family is a wonderful group of people that love to worship and sing
together. Genuine love for each other along with close relationships really describes the special dynamic among our members.  Our Wednesday evening rehearsals are filled with lots of joy as we fellowship, pray, worship, and then practice together for our Sunday morning worship services.

You may be new to Heritage or you may have been a member for years. It doesn’t
matter. It also doesn’t matter if you think you have a good voice or not, because
our main goal is to worship and praise our Lord.  Therefore I want to personally invite
you to join us in the music ministry and become a member of our choir family.
Our choir meets each Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the main
auditorium. A nursery is available for the entire time of the rehearsal.
You know, we truly believe if you came just once, you would agree with us that the
Adult Choir is a great ministry to be a part of...

“Kid’s Worship & Praise”
“Kid’s Worship and Praise” is a music program for children ranging in the ages of four year olds through 5th grade. These children learn to praise and worship the Lord in a fun and meaningful way through the avenue of music. During the year they will experience singing in the regular worship service as well as having their own Christmas and spring programs.

The choirs meet on Wednesdays from 5:30 – 6:25 p.m. in the House which is just north of the main building.

Tasa Barnett is the director for the 4 year olds – 1st grade. They meet in room 201 (the garage) of the House.

Rose Kennedy is the director for 2nd – 6th grade. They meet in the Living Room of the House.

If you would like more information for our children’s music program, “Kid’s Worship & Praise,” please call the church office 720-1449 and speak to Howard Geis, the Minister of Music.

A Word of Encouragement!
One of my favorite passages of Scriptures is Proverbs 3:5-6, which says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”  This means no wavering, no doubting, no second guessing God.  We are casing ourselves totally on God.  Hudson Taylor explains it this way, “Let us give up our work, our thoughts, our plans, ourselves, our lives, our loved ones, our influence, our all, right into God’s hand; and then, when we have given all over to Him, there will be nothing left for us to worry about.”  There are so many things we can be anxious about.  So many things can discourage us.  Life, with all its difficulties and problems can certainly overwhelm us.  When Peter walked on the water, he did fine for awhile; then something happened...he saw the wind and the waves the Bible says, and then he began to sink.  You see, Peter didn’t sink because he quit believing Jesus’ ability to keep him afloat.  Rather, he began to sink because he took his eyes off of Jesus and began looking at the overwhelming situation the storm was causing.  Isn’t that the way we react to the difficulties in our lives?  Oh that we would keep our eyes on Jesus and trust Him with all our hearts.
