SUNDAY MORNING 9:00-10:15 am

Location – Youth Room / Café

After hanging out in the café, 7th–12th grade students gather in the Youth Room for a time of worship, interactive teaching and table discussions.

HUDDLE - Wednesday Nights 6:30-8:00 pm

Location – Youth Room / Café

During the school year 7th –12th students gather on Wednesday nights for a time of worship, teaching and small group discussion. We typically walk through a book of the Bible chapter by chapter trusting that studying God’s Word is the most important thing we can do with our time.  Gender specific small groups allow us to dig deeper and discuss the relevancy of the Word in our daily lives.  Each small group consists of two adult leaders/shepherds that care for their flock. Wednesday nights also provide the students with a great opportunity to connect with one another. After small groups everyone is encouraged to stay around afterwards for pizza and fellowship.

DISCIPLESHIP

Location - Off- Site

Discipleship is a huge emphasis of the Heritage Student Ministry.  Our adult leaders will be meeting with students that have expressed an interest in personal discipleship. While each group may be structured differently, our goal is to encourage and equip students to treasure Christ more than anything.

NOVO Bible Club

Every Tuesday a group of our students and a few adults head over to an inner city OKC apartment complex to lead a Bible club. We memorize verses, share the gospel, play games, teach the Bible, do activities and crafts, eat snacks, and laugh a lot each week. It’s a blessing to see the precious kids learn more about Jesus and experience His love, and it’s an encouragement to see our Heritage volunteers grow as they teach His truth and love on the kids.

SLT - Sunday Nights 4:30-6:00 pm

Location – Heritage House

Servant Leadership Training (SLT) is an opportunity for our juniors and seniors to take a deeper look at what it means to be the Body.  Students are consistently encouraged to see themselves as instruments in the hands of a Redeemer. They are challenged to serve and minister rather than simply sit and soak. It is our prayer that God would use these times to open their eyes to see the opportunities to minister to the people God has placed in their lives.

EVENTS and TRIPS

Deep Impact 2012 – March 2-4

This is an outreach event that is designed to challenge our students to invite some of their un-churched friends.  Students will be assigned to a small group that will spend the weekend in a Host Home with two volunteer leaders.  These leaders will facilitate small group discussions and encourage the students to recognize the power and relevance of God's Word.  Throughout the weekend we will gather at the church for worship, teaching, and activities.  This is a great opportunity to connect to the Student Ministry for the first time.  Our prayer is that many will connect with Christ for the first time.

Cost is $50 for regular attenders - $30 for guests.

Spring Break ‘12 ~ March 18-22

Another great opportunity is to serve a Christian camp through several work projects at Arkansas Baptist Assembly in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.  We will meet at the church Sunday, March 18th at 1:15 pm and be back to the church Thursday, March 22th around 9:00 pm. Monday through Wednesday will be spent helping with work projects like: painting inside and out, spreading dirt and mulch, clearing brush and developing hiking and mountain bike trails, and raking leaves.  We will also partner with a couple of ministries in town and help by sorting and distributing clothes and food and praying with and for those we meet.  Each evening we will spend some time hanging out, worshipping and hearing from a couple of missionaries about how God has uniquely used them and how He can use us, too, to further the Kingdom.  On our way home Thursday we will stop at New Life Ranch in Concord, Oklahoma, for an afternoon of team building which includes the opportunity to use a combination of High and Low Course Elements.

The cost of the trip is $115 and that will take care of housing, transportation, team building elements, and 14 meals and t-shirt.  Students will need about $15 for one road meal and snacks.  The deadline for registration is March 7th.  The paper work includes the Mission Siloam form as well as the signed and notarized Heritage waivers and insurance information turned in. These forms will be hanging outside my office door. For Student Waiver and Insurance forms Click here.

What to bring – bed roll, pillow, personal toiletries, towel, work clothes (layers are recommended; it will get chilly), poncho/raincoat, tennis shoes (must have), flashlight, Bible and pen.

Arlington Mission Trip ’12 ~ June 10-15

This summer we head back to Mission Arlington.  This is an awesome local missions organization in Arlington, Texas, whose goal is to take the church to the people.  They provide services like: after-school programs, healthcare, childcare, bussing, conversational English, job assistance, food and clothing distribution, Bible studies and apartment churches.

While we will be helping with several service opportunities throughout the week, most of our time will be spent serving in their Rainbow Express ministry.  Rainbow Express is their version of “Backyard Bible Club.”  Last year Mission Arlington hosted Rainbow Express in over 396 locations across the community.  Our students and sponsors, divided into groups of 10-12, will go to two apartment complexes each day for four days; one complex in the morning and one right after lunch.

Each of our students will play a vital role in leading the Rainbow Express.  They will be assigned tasks like: rounding up and inviting the neighborhood children, leading songs, sharing Bible stories and personal testimonies, leading game time and crafts.  I am grateful for the opportunity this provides our students with face-to-face ministry with these children and their families.  For more information about Mission Arlington go to www.missionarlington.org.  Sign-up will start in early May, and everyone going will need to attend two missions training sessions prior to the trip. The training will take place Wednesday evenings May 30th and June 6th from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm.  The cost of the trip is $115 and students will also need about $30 for road meals and snacks.  The only paper work needed is the signed and notarized Heritage waiver and insurance form. Camp Barnabas Summer Missions ’12 ~ July 22-29

Camp Barnabas is a summer camp for young people with disabilities.  This year our students will be working with children between the ages of 7 and 15 who have autism/developmental disabilities.

Our students have the privilege of serving as camp counselors or barnstormers.  Camp counselors must be between the ages of 16-29 by the time camp starts and barnstormers must be at least 14 years old before camp begins.  Counselors will be assigned an individual camper to work with for the week, while barnstormers will be serving in the kitchen and assisting cabins during activities.

Summer Camp Barnabas is not a church camp for Heritage; we are there to serve, not to be entertained.  It is unbelievably rewarding, but you need to know for what you’re signing up.  Students must fill out an application and be interviewed in order to attend, have a relationship with the Lord and a desire to serve.  If you have any questions about the camp or whether your son or daughter should attend, please call me. The cost is $175, plus $20 for a background check if you’re over the age of 18.  Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in attending—availability is limited and I will email you the link so you can register online.   Online registration and $55 deposit will be due by Wednesday evening, MARCH 28th.
